Explosion with two victims in the palace in Elbasan, police reveal the cause of the serious incident

Following the information provided yesterday, regarding the fire on the third floor of the building in the "Qemal Stafa" neighborhood, we inform that after several hours of intensive searches, the Elbasan Police, in cooperation with the Armed Forces, Civil Emergency and Firefighters services, found, at around 00:40, the lifeless body of the owner of the apartment where the fire broke out, citizen HI, 69 years old.
As a result, citizen HB, 82 years old, died at the scene. Also, 10 residents in the same building were injured, who received medical assistance and left the hospital premises, and there was extensive material damage.
From the preliminary actions carried out by the investigative structures of the Elbasan Local Police Directorate, in cooperation with RENEA engineering experts and under the direction of the Elbasan Prosecutor's Office, it is initially suspected that the explosion and subsequent fire were caused by the excessive presence of gas in the 69-year-old's apartment.
The special investigative group, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, continues the examination of the scene and other investigative actions to fully clarify the circumstances and cause of the explosion.
The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office for evaluation.
