Unions in France call national strike on November 5, demand wage and pension increases

Public and private sector employees, young people and pensioners in France have been called to take part in a national strike and protest on November 5, demanding increases in wages, pensions and social benefits.
According to the French newspaper "Le Monde", the call has been signed by the major unions CFDT and CGT, at a time when the country is facing student protests and tensions accompanied by clashes between protesters and security forces.
In the joint statement, the unions express support for students' demands for better study conditions and more equality, emphasizing that they will respect the independence of the student movement.
Trade unions also warn of worsening economic conditions for workers, as fuel, food, rent and energy prices continue to rise.
"Everything is getting more expensive, except salaries and pensions," the unions emphasize, demanding concrete measures to improve the purchasing power and social protection of citizens.
