Scandal with Vlora Hyseni of SHISH/ Greek media: The corruption case that has put Rama in difficulty, the question mark for national security

The scandal involving the former head of the State Intelligence Service, Vlora Hyseni, and businessman Ergys Agasi has also received coverage in the Greek media. Newsbomb.gr has dedicated a special article to the issue, describing it as a development that has caused shock in Albania and raises questions about national security.
At the center of the Greek media article are the suspicions raised by SPAK that Hyseni, while leading SHISH, had continuous communications with Agas, who at that time was a person wanted by Albanian justice. According to materials made public by the investigation, the communications between them also included information related to Hyseni's activities and official meetings.
Newsbomb.gr places particular emphasis on the position held by Hyseni and the nature of the information she may have had at her disposal as head of the intelligence service. The Greek media raises the question of whether classified data may have ended up in the hands of individuals linked to organized crime, an issue that it says is of particular importance given Albania's relations with its partners and allies.
The corruption case that has exposed close associates of Prime Minister Edi Rama has hit Albania like a bolt from the blue. Recently, a number of leaders in the Albanian government have been targeted by the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecution Office (SPAK), which was created under pressure from the Europeans and Americans as part of the conditions for the country’s European path. However, the issue took on a new and particularly serious dimension after the revelation that the head of the State Intelligence Service, Vlora Hyseni, is suspected of channeling secret state information to organized crime figures, specifically to a known member of the Albanian mafia, Ergys Agasi. Hyseni was arrested at the border with Kosovo while returning from Azerbaijan, where he had participated in a meeting of the heads of intelligence services from various countries.

Kjo për shkak se, për shkak të pozicionit të saj, Hyseni kishte qasje në informacione shumë të ndjeshme që i transmetoheshin nga homologët e saj të huaj. Një pjesë e madhe e tyre lidhej me marrëdhëniet e Shqipërisë me aleatët e saj, si dhe me çështjet e sigurisë në rajonin e gjerë.
Pyetja thelbësore që autoritetet shqiptare duhet t’i përgjigjen tani është nëse ky informacion ka arritur vërtet në duart e krimit të organizuar dhe, nëpërmjet tij, te shërbimet e inteligjencës së vendeve të treta.
Hetimi sapo ka filluar dhe do të jetë veçanërisht interesante të shihet se çfarë do të dëshmojë vetë Vlora Hyseni. Në Shqipëri tashmë po ngrihet pyetja nëse ajo do të zgjedhë t’i mbajë dokumentet e saj të mbyllura apo do të vijojë me zbulime që mund të ndikojnë edhe te vetë Edi Rama. Kryeministri shqiptar, për shkak të pozicionit të tij institucional dhe rolit në çështjet e sigurisë kombëtare, ishte marrës i informacionit të klasifikuar.

Hyseni më parë shërbeu si kreu i shërbimit kombëtar të inteligjencës së Kosovës, përpara se të shkarkohej nga kryeministri Albin Kurti dhe më pas të merrte postin ekuivalent në Shqipëri. Rasti i shtohet një serie hetimesh që kanë prekur figura në mjedisin e ngushtë politik dhe qeveritar të Ramës. Mes tyre ishte zëvendëskryeministrja Belinda Balluku, e cila dha dorëheqjen ndërsa ishte nën shqyrtimin e SPAK-ut për një rast që përfshinte projekte shtetërore, si dhe kryetari i Bashkisë së Tiranës, Erion Veliaj, i cili ka qenë në qendër të hetimeve për menaxhimin e fondeve publike.
Presion i ri ndaj Ramës
Zhvillimet e reja krijojnë një problem politik edhe më serioz për Edi Ramën, pasi ky rast i veçantë nuk ka të bëjë vetëm me akuzat për korrupsion, por prek edhe çështje të sigurisë kombëtare.
Zbulimet e mëparshme rreth zyrtarëve të partisë në pushtet dhe qeverisë nuk duket se kanë shkaktuar të njëjtin tronditje në qeveri. Megjithatë, këtë herë rreziqet janë të ndryshme, pasi në rrezik janë vetë funksionimi i shërbimeve shtetërore të inteligjencës dhe mbrojtja e informacionit të klasifikuar. Njëkohësisht, rasti vjen pas protestave masive që u zhvilluan në Shqipëri dhe kritikave të forta që qeveria Rama mori për mënyrën e saj të qeverisjes së vendit.
The “Hyseni case” now offers a new point of reference for those critical of the government, as it relates to a much broader issue than just another corruption case: Albania’s national security and its relations with its allies. In previous cases, Edi Rama has dealt with revelations about his associates by removing them from their positions and attributing responsibility to those under his control. However, this particular case is much more difficult to handle, as it is not just another internal government issue.
The leak of classified information, if confirmed by the investigation, directly affects the country's security and could also have consequences for Albania's relations with its allies. Europeans and Americans are expected to closely monitor the progress of the investigation and demand clear answers about what exactly happened, what data was revealed and who had access to it. For Edi Rama, the case constitutes a new and particularly difficult test, with interest now turning both to the course of the SPAK investigation and to the possible revelations of Vlora Hyseni herself.
