The referee who was punched on the pitch will officiate the Latvia-Albania match

On Tuesday, June 10, the match between Latvia and Albania is scheduled, valid for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Ahead of this clash, UEFA has also revealed the referees who will officiate the match. On the pitch, a panel of judges from Turkey has been selected.
The main referee will be Umut Meler, while his assistants will be Kerem Ersoy and Ibrahim Uyarcan. The fourth referee has been selected as Oguzhan Cakir.
Meler has been a highly controversial name in recent years regarding refereeing, after in Turkey he was punched by the president of Angaragucu, after the match with Rizespor in 2023.
There will be two Germans on VAR: Harm Osmers as the main one and Daniel Schlager as the assistant.
In this match, Albania comes after a 0-0 draw in Tirana against Serbia and with 4 points in three matches played in Group K.
The Reds will seek victory at all costs to keep their hopes of qualifying for the World Cup alive.
