Mimoza Hamidi, born in Presheva, even though she was asked by the Swiss National Team, the country in which she lives, chose to represent Albania.
The soccer player from Basek said that Albanian blood called her.
"Those in Switzerland have treated me very well. I had great chances to play, but I thought well and went with the saying that a foreign country never becomes your own. Albanian blood called me", she declares.
When she was younger, she found the Swiss National Team intriguing. In her confession, she shows that she has been part of several selections developed by the Swiss representative as well as being part of age chain teams.
When in 2017, the Albanian National Team invited her to be part of the red and black team, she directly refused. It was between two choices, the place where he was born, or the place where he grew up:
"I have been part of several selections as well as age chain teams. When the invitation came from Albania and they asked me to be part of the national team, I was not ready. I was in the middle of a big dilemma, since almost at the same time I received an invitation from Switzerland.
Por kur duhet të vendosja, kam thënë Shqipërinë dhe nuk e kam diskutuar më. Ata në Zvicër janë sjellë shumë mirë me mua. Kam pasur shanse të mëdha të luaja, por jam menduar mirë dhe kam ecur me shprehjen që vendi i huaj nuk bëhet kurrë i yti. Më ka thirrur gjaku shqiptar. E kam ndjerë veten shumë mirë aty, por nuk është e njëjta gjë”, tregon ajo.
Pavarësisht se është rritur në Zvicër, ajo mbetet një tifoze e përjetshme e Shqipërisë, ndërsa shprehet se fanella e Kombëtares është e rëndë, por ajo po mundohet ta mbajë sa më lart:
"I have always been a fan of Albania, since the moment I started playing football. Not just me, but everyone as a family. It probably also comes from the fact that we are very patriotic. Even when I wear the red and black jersey, I understand the importance it has. It is difficult for me, but I try to keep it as high as possible and I wish to score as many goals as possible".
