UEFA embarrassed by leaving Tottenham winners without medals, official statement: Injured players attended the ceremony

Aleksander Ceferin was left surprised at last night's ceremony after Tottenham won the Europa League. The UEFA president did not have medals for all of Tottenham's players who triumphed over United.

Romero, Son and Bentancur were left dry as they headed into the rest of the game. UEFA has clarified the episode with an official statement, while indicating that the other medals were handed over to the locker rooms.

" To our great disappointment, we did not have enough medals during the trophy ceremony due to an unexpected discrepancy in the number of players, as more team members, including injured players, attended the ceremony than initially expected.

"The missing medals were immediately handed over to the winning team in the locker room, along with our sincere apology ," UEFA wrote in an official statement.
