Vlora Airport, Pacolli comes out against the government: "Citizens have the right to know the truth"
Behgjet Pacolli has reacted through a Facebook post regarding the situation created around the Vlora International Airport, making accusations against the way the project was managed and the termination of the concession contract.
Pacolli, in his capacity as MABCO representative, states that the company has committed over 320 million euros in investments, financing, guarantees and financial exposure for the airport project, emphasizing that the facility was in the final phase and was being prepared for the certification process. According to him, the situation changed after MABCO was prevented from entering the construction site for almost three months, in the presence of the State Police. Pacolli claims that during this period the works remained blocked and that the lack of maintenance, high temperatures and acts of vandalism caused significant damage to equipment and installations.
It raises the question of how the investor can be held responsible for the failure to complete the project, if he is prevented from entering the construction site and continuing the work.
" How can the investor be blamed for not completing a project, when he himself was prevented from entering the construction site and completing the works? " writes Pacolli.
According to him, after the company was prevented from completing the work and starting the certification process, the Albanian Government initiated the procedure for terminating the concession contract.
Pacolli states that MABCO seeks a solution in accordance with the Supreme Court's decision and that arbitration remains the "last option" that the company wishes to pursue.
In his response, he addresses the government directly, warning that responsibility for actions and inactions related to the project must be borne in mind.
" The solution is still possible. The decision is up to them!", writes Pacolli.
At the end of the post, he warns that MABCO will begin publishing a series of materials that, according to him, will be presented in a chronological and transparent manner.
" Every day, I will publish the facts, the names of the people, the documents and the dates of the events, as well as the responsibilities of each one," Pacolli declares.
He closes the reaction with a direct message:
“Truth doesn't need propaganda. It needs facts .”
Pacolli's reaction comes at a time when the future of Vlora International Airport remains at the center of debate, while the clash between the parties over responsibilities and the fate of the concession contract continues.
