Arrest of lawyer Ulian Bajrami after court debate, Prosecution requests dismissal of case

The Tirana Prosecution Office has requested this Saturday (February 7, 2026) the dismissal of the case against lawyer Ulian Bajrami, who was arrested inside the courtroom after a debate with prosecutor Gjergj Ceka, an event that occurred on October 17, 2025 in the city of Elbasan.

"The Tirana Prosecutor's Office requests the dismissal of the criminal proceeding case no. 7882, registered for the criminal offenses 'Threat due to duty', 'opposing and striking a judge' and 'threat against a judge' against citizen Ulian Bajrami for the event registered on 17.10.2025 in Elbasan,"  the Prosecutor's Office announced.

Lawyer Ulian Bajrami was arrested in October last year after allegations that he had threatened prosecutor Ceka during a court session at the Elbasan Court.

He was arrested by police in the courtroom and criminal proceedings were filed against him on several charges, including "threatening in the course of duty" and "obstructing the judge", but he was released two days later after the prosecution decided that the conditions for further detention were not met.

Meanwhile, today, the Tirana Prosecutor's Office has requested the dismissal of the case.
