Ecuador seeks US help in fight against gangs!

In his first interview after his election victory, given to CNN, Noboa said that direct talks have already been held with the United States and that an official meeting will follow after the elections to consolidate cooperation.
"We would like to have American forces for support in monitoring and reconnaissance. Operations will always be in the hands of our army and police," he said.
According to plans obtained by CNN, Ecuador is building a new naval facility in the coastal city of Manta, where the US once had an air base for anti-drug flights.
Ecuadorian officials suggest that the new base could be a future destination for US troops, if constitutional changes allow it.
From drugs to migration, a deeper US-Ecuador alliance:
Noboa, educated in the US, has expressed his intention to strengthen cooperation with Washington not only in the field of security, but also in trade, investment and migration control. He has announced constitutional reforms to allow the presence of foreign troops on Ecuadorian territory.
In January, the president declared a “state of war” against gangs, facing an unprecedented wave of violence. In the first months of the year alone, over 2,500 murders were recorded, making Ecuador the country with the highest murder rate in Latin America, according to data from InSight Crime.
Asked about comparisons with El Salvador's Nayib Bukele and relations with Donald Trump, Noboa emphasized that every country has its own reality:
"We respect each other, but the situations are different. I invited both Trump and Bukele to my inauguration."
