KPA reinstates judge Ermira Dedja, who was dismissed for property problems

The Special Appeals Chamber (SAC) has reinstated Shkodra judge Ermira Dedja, who was previously dismissed by the first instance of vetting (KPK).
The decision was taken unanimously this Tuesday by the KPA panel headed by Sokol Çomo, with rapporteur Rezarta Schuetz and members Albana Shtylla, Ina Rama and Natasha Mulaj, after reviewing Dedja's appeal in the consulting room.
Judge Ermira Dedja was dismissed by the Independent Qualification Commission on January 12, 2022 after problems with the asset criterion, while she had been positively evaluated for her clean image and professional skills.
Judge Dedja's explanations that the income from the husband's activity, previously declared and proven with legal documentation, had served as a source for the installment payments of an apartment were not considered convincing by the KPC, as they were not reflected as a cash balance in the relevant years nor as a source of asset creation in the periodic declarations and in that "vetting".
However, the arguments used by the judge seem to have convinced the KPA panel, and the decision of the Special Appeals Chamber to change the KPC decision is final.
Ermira Dedja began her career in the justice system in 1993 and has worked for almost three decades as a judge at the Shkodra Court.
