Karamuço: Police chief in the land business, here's how the scheme works

Criminology professor Ervin Karamuço was on "Now with Erla Mëhillin" on Euronews Albania this Tuesday, saying that some police officers continue to be implicated in crimes.
According to him, there are state police officers who are mainly implicated in drug trafficking, protection of gambling, illegal call centers, prostitution and, most recently, the land business.
"There are very strong signals, suspicions, but also investigations, both from the AMP and from the prosecutors' offices that talk about specific people in the state police, who apparently have no fear and continue with old habits. They are still dealing with four main things, with drug trafficking, domestic and international, they are dealing with the protection of gambling, call centers, and even prostitution, recently we had the case of some Colombians. Recently we also have the land business. There are some prices that range up to 2.5 euros per cubic meter of land, where some police exponents agree with construction firms, so that they do not take it to the landfill to throw it, give 2.5 euros fine per cubic meter and throw it wherever you want. These are emergencies to be investigated. Some have even been connected as shareholders in these construction firms", said Karamuço.
