Rama promises to open a consulate for Albanians in Crete

Prime Minister Edi Rama has promised to open a consulate for Albanians on the Greek island of Crete.

Rama said that no more than a year from now, an Albanian consulate will open its doors there.

" I know how you feel when they tell you that you have to go to Athens. Next year we will open a consulate in Crete. You don't have to flee to Athens. The Albanian state will come to you ," Rama said.

Rama invited the Albanians gathered at a meeting with him to vote for the Socialist Party in the May 11 elections, stating that a vote for him is a vote for a European Union passport, which would eliminate the need for thousands of Albanians to wait indefinitely to obtain Greek documents.
