SPAK has completed the investigations and sent 8 defendants for trial, accused of computer fraud against German citizens, committed through an organized Call Center scheme.
According to the official announcement, the prosecution has submitted to the GJKKO the request for the trial of criminal proceedings no. 42 of 2024, where the defendants are accused of the criminal offense of "computer fraud" and "structured criminal group".
Among the accused are Emiljano Sejdillari and Sokol Krasniqi, as well as Rodrigo Guga, Eltion Logu, Tafil Dyrmishi and Lisjane Çulani. Klejdi Nuka and Mateo Llozhi also appear in the file.
The investigation was initiated based on a request for legal assistance from the Karlsruhe General Prosecutor's Office in Germany, following a case of organized fraud against German citizens.
According to the file, the scheme was discovered after an attempted fraud against a citizen from Freiburg, who was asked for an amount of 120 thousand euros. German police managed to prevent the transfer of money, while investigations later identified the criminal network.
The perpetrators are suspected of using sophisticated technologies such as "caller ID spoofing", "VoIP" and "VPN" to hide their identity and make fraudulent calls. Cyber investigations have led to the identification of connections also from the territory of Albania, through the IPs of internet companies.
As part of the investigations, a call center was also discovered on "Hamdi Sina" Street in Tirana, where material and digital evidence was seized during a search conducted in April 2024.
SPAK reports that the documented damage for 14 victims in Germany amounts to around 363 thousand euros, while hundreds of other fraud attempts have been prevented thanks to the intervention of German authorities.
At the conclusion of the investigations, the court previously imposed security measures of "prison arrest" and "house arrest" for some of the suspects, while one of the suspects was extradited from Germany to Albania.
