A 20-year-old Albanian man was injured by gunfire from Italian carabinieri after he attempted to flee in a car during a police check. The incident occurred late Saturday evening in the province of Pisa, Italian media report .

The intervention of the law enforcement forces was made after a call from a woman, who asked for help, stating that her minor son was being subjected to blackmail. According to the complaint, the minor's mobile phone had been taken and the perpetrators had demanded a sum of one thousand euros to return it.

Upon the arrival of the patrol, one of the suspects allegedly hit a car with a carabinieri and then drove away at high speed. A chase began that lasted several kilometers, from Bientina to Montopoli.

During the escape, the carabinieri fired five shots. Two bullets hit the 20-year-old, who was then treated by medical services and transported to the hospital. According to authorities, his condition is not serious.
