War in Ukraine/ Vladimir Putin ready for dialogue with Emmanuel Macron

Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready to engage in dialogue with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron if there is political will on both sides, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told the Russian state news agency RIA.
The statement comes after Macron said he was open to talks with the Russian president, immediately after the end of the European Union summit in Brussels. Peskov noted that Putin had previously expressed this position during a press conference, underlining that dialogue can be viewed positively if there is mutual political will.
"Such a thing can only be assessed positively if there is political will on both sides," Peskov stated.
Macron spoke about the possibility of resuming dialogue after the EU summit, where an agreement was reached on a 90 billion euro loan for Ukraine, aimed at covering the country's financial needs for the next two years. He stressed that it is in the interests of Europeans and Ukrainians to create a common framework for talks.
Meanwhile, envoys of US President Donald Trump have held separate meetings with Russian, Ukrainian and European representatives, without any concrete progress towards an agreement to end the war in Ukraine.
This week, negotiators from Ukraine, European countries and the United States met in Miami, Florida. On the Russian side, envoy Kirill Dmitriev held talks with American representatives, which he described as “constructive.”
On the other hand, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called on Washington to increase pressure on Moscow, while no bilateral contacts between Russia and Ukraine are currently foreseen.
