Elected as the Head of the Constitutional Court, who is Holta Zaçaj?

The Constitutional Court for the next three years will be headed by Holta Zaçaj. The latter was elected in the third round of voting, while she managed to get the majority of votes from the judges of this institution.
But who is the new president of the Constitutional Court?
She was born on January 12, 1976 in Tirana, while she graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Tirana, in 1998. In the period 2007-2008, she completed her master's degree in "Financial Titles and Regulations" at Georgetown University in the USA. within the framework of the Fulbright program. She started her professional journey as a lawyer and human rights activist, being engaged in the years 1999-2001, in the Center "Peace through Justice", the project for war crimes in Kosovo.
Afterwards, she was engaged as a lawyer at the Center for Integrated Legal Practices and Services (QSHPLI), in free legal aid projects, such as: Legal Clinic for Minors, City Attorney's Office near Tirana Municipality, Legal Clinic for Refugees. From 2008, in addition to being engaged in civil society as a lawyer and human rights expert, she worked as a lawyer in the law office "Delegibus Consulting" sh.pk and from 2018 she also practiced the profession of lawyer in the state of Massachusetts, USA , in the legal office "Ligris and Associates" and "Zaçaj Law".
Gjithashtu, në periudhen 2009-2013, zonja Zaçaj është angazhuar si lektore në Shkollën e Magjistraturës në trajnimin fillestar, në të drejtën familjare dhe në trajnimin vazhdues në fushën e së drejtës familjare dhe të të drejtave të fëmijëve, si dhe lektore e së drejtës bankare dhe financiare në disa universitete private në Shqipëri, në periudhën 2009-2014. Zonja Zaçaj është angazhuar dhe ka kontribuar si eksperte ligjore kombëtare dhe ndërkombëtare në një sërë iniciativash të UNICEF-it në Shqipëri, UNICEF-it në Kosovë, UNICEF-it në Gjeorgji, Këshillit të Evropës, Bankës Botërore, Fondit Monetar Ndërkombetar etj.
During the period 2013 - 2018, she was the Director of the Legal Department of Alpha Bank Sh.A. She is the author and co-author of about 30 studies and publications in the field of human rights, children's rights, family law, banking law and titles. She is the co-author of the Family Code, the law on the rights and protection of children in Albania, the legal package for the penitentiary treatment of minors in Kosovo. In January 2023, she was appointed a member of the Constitutional Court.
