The Special Prosecutor's Office against Crime and Corruption (SPAK) carried out an inspection today in the premises of the Municipality of Kukes, where they seized the server of security cameras as well as various documents, as part of the investigation being carried out for abuse of office against the former Mayor Safet Gjici, who was involved in the scandal.
The officers of the National Bureau of Investigation stayed for 30 minutes in the City Hall and after making contact with the IT employee, seized the server. SPAK will be able to determine the time of making the video, although the film material marks the date June 6 at 16.00.
It is known that SPAK has identified the woman, who lives with her minor child in Durrës, and has ordered that she must not leave the country, so she will not be allowed to travel, as long as her confession is key to the investigation.
On June 16, a video scandal was published showing Safet Gjici having sex in the office, in the Municipality of Kukës. Through a note on his Facebook account, he announced his resignation and spoke of being entrapped by opponents. He blamed the girl in the video, whom he said he had a long-time crush on. In addition to claiming that they have set a trap for him, he said that he had betrayed the trust of the citizens of Kukes who had voted for him for his second term at the head of the Municipality. With his dismissal from the post of mayor, it is expected that new elections will be held in Kukës as well. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Edi Rama has not yet reacted to the scandal in question.
