Minister Gashani: Kosovo will excel with the organization of the Mediterranean

Kosovo's Minister of Youth and Sports, Blerim Gashani, spoke about the current challenges in the preparations for the Mediterranean Games and the institutional commitment to their organization, emphasizing that despite external factors, the work will continue with full intensity.

Speaking about the impact of global factors and legal processes, Gashani emphasized that the dynamics of developments cannot be accurately predicted due to international crises, but this will not be an obstacle to moving forward. He underlines that the path for organizing the Mediterranean Games has already been paved and that the relevant law is ready for urgent government proceedings.

The Minister explains that the document has been returned for technical issues, but the institutions have been close to finalizing it and it is expected to proceed very soon, creating an important basis for further steps, including the establishment of the relevant structures.

"I don't know how much it should increase, because some of the issues that do not depend on us are the issue of world crises, which increase inflation, but we will not deal with these too much because every delay is a delay, and we will move forward. We are already paving the way. We have the Law on the Mediterranean Games ready and we will process it very quickly and urgently in the government... No, it has been returned, it has been released, so only for rural reasons, because otherwise even today we thought that we would be able to send it to the government meeting first, so we are close to it, it will pave a way and form a framework then for some other steps for the establishment of the community", he emphasized to KosovaPress.

He further speaks about the institutional commitment and broad cooperation that such an organization requires, expressing his conviction that the maximum will be given from all levels. Gashani emphasizes that this process will involve not only the Ministry of Youth and Sports, but the entire government, including the Prime Minister, key ministries such as finance, internal affairs, health, as well as local government. According to him, an important role will also be played by the Olympic Committee and the Municipality of Pristina, along with the other organizing municipalities, for which he says he has already seen full readiness for cooperation. Finally, the minister underlines that the main goal remains for Kosovo to shine through this event, regardless of individual or political merits.

"I am super convinced, why am I super convinced because we will give our maximum, not only me from the Ministry of Sports and Youth, but also the entire government because we are all there, from the Prime Minister and line ministers, internal finances, health, local government, infrastructure must participate, we will all be together and so we will all be and give our maximum, but the Olympic Community and the Municipality of Pristina and the municipalities that organize the event will also give their maximum, so I have already asked the absolute majority of them and I have seen their willingness to work together, to return to part of your question, I handle such events, to make the event so that Kosovo shines, even if I have no merit left, as a member of a party or even a coalition, there is absolutely no problem, only that Kosovo shines", Gashani announced.

The Mediterranean Games are a major multi-sport event held every four years, bringing together countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea. They were founded in 1951 with the aim of strengthening cooperation, friendship and sporting competition between participating countries.

Athletes from three continents – Europe, Asia and Africa – participate in this event, competing in dozens of sports disciplines. The Games are considered an important platform for promoting sports, developing infrastructure and enhancing the international image of the organizing countries. /KosovaPress
