Albanian "hawks" arrested in Spain for stealing money and jewelry, drugs also found

Spanish police have dismantled a criminal group of Albanian origin that was committing burglaries in several areas of Spain. As a result of the police operation, four people have been arrested, who have already been sent to prison by court order.
According to Spanish media, the group had been operating for several months and had an apartment in the city of Vigo as their base, which they used to plan the robberies. They mainly targeted isolated homes or rural areas, where it was easier to leave unnoticed.
Investigators have found that gang members took strict security measures to avoid police. They changed their residences and vehicles frequently, up to four times a month, and rarely left the apartment where they stayed.
To carry out the robberies, they would travel in rented cars to areas near forests or isolated locations. One of them would serve as the driver and coordinator, while the others would walk through the forests to reach the homes. They would usually enter through windows and, after the robbery, would leave for a predetermined meeting point.
The group is suspected of taking part in at least 14 robberies in different cities and areas of Galicia, including Santiago, Pontevedra, Redondela and Vilaboa. The objects they stole were mainly money, jewelry and valuable gold items.
The investigation began in December, following an increase in reports of burglaries in residential properties. After weeks of pursuit, police raided two homes in Vigo and Torrevieja on January 27 and 28, arresting four members of the group.
During the operation, jewelry, watches, cash, mobile phones, SIM cards, door openers and 14 kilograms of marijuana were seized. Police also discovered a hideout in a wooded area where the group had hidden some of the stolen items.
