Accused of corruption/ GJKKO leaves the administrator of the Elbasan Incinerator in prison

The Special Anti-Corruption Court has remanded in prison the administrator of the public company "ECO-ELB", Leli Kraja. The latter was arrested two days ago in Elbasan.
Kraja was handcuffed by BKH agents in the "Fushë Mbret" neighborhood of Elbasan, and is accused of taking an envelope with 4 million lek in bribes from a business.
Leli Kraja's name was previously included in the investigation of the Elbasan Prosecutor's Office into the activities of "ECO-ELB".
In July 2025, as part of this investigation, 14 searches were carried out in the homes of people related to the case, including the home of the company administrator.
The investigation, registered in 2024, focused on the institutional and financial relations between "ECO-ELB" and the eight municipalities of the Elbasan district.
The prosecution had questioned 43 people, while local officials were also in focus, including deputy mayors, legal directors, and finance directors.
The suspicions raised by investigators relate to cases where services may have been provided only partially, for limited periods, or not provided at all, despite payments made.
