International media: Blair and LaCivita's lobbying for Dodik and Berisha

President Donald Trump's threat to fire two of his top political advisers has shaken his political circle, while CNN journalists have warned that the consequences of this development could go even further.

Trump wrote on Truth Social on Wednesday that he would “fire” James Blair and Chris LaCivita, after The New York Times reported that the two were paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to advise the pro-Russian government of Republika Srpska, a self-governing entity of Bosnia, ahead of the Oct. 4 election. Trump insisted that the two are “outside consultants” and do not work for him.

CNN's Alayna Treene called the episode surprising, highlighting how involved the two men are in Trump's political operation.

" James Blair is actually in charge of the president's entire political operation, even though he runs it out of the White House ," Treene told host Dana Bash.

Blair runs MAGA Inc., the pro-Trump super PAC that had $415 million in assets at the end of August, according to The New York Times. LaCivita, co-manager of Trump's 2024 campaign, is one of the group's top advisers.

Treene said Trump has never liked people who can use his name to make money. She called his public threat to fire them especially significant, coming less than a month before the midterm elections, at a time when Republicans are already facing concerns in several key races.

CNN's Jasmine Wright said a prominent MAGA figure who was outraged by The New York Times article the night before sent her a message with an exaggerated "wow," spelled with seven "ws," after Trump's post. The episode, she said, touches on two sensitive issues at once: whether the people running Trump's midterm campaign are truly focused on him, and whether advisers who consider themselves "MAGA first" should be working for foreign governments.

"These are two people who are constantly on Air Force One ," Wright said.

LaCivita's firm was paid a hefty $1.6 million by Albania's opposition to advise the campaign of former Albanian leader Sali Berisha, The New York Times previously reported. Meanwhile, the government of Republika Srpska has spent more than $4 million on Trump-linked lobbyists since the beginning of last year, according to The New York Times./ Adapted in Albanian Alfapress.al
