Discussions with the US continue/ Macron's call: Iran should use the talks to reduce tensions

French President Emmanuel Macron spoke by phone today with his Iranian counterpart, Massoud Pezeshkian, urging him to "seize the opportunity offered by the discussions launched in Islamabad to pave the way for a lasting reduction in tensions."

As the United States, Pakistan and Iran have begun trilateral talks, Emmanuel Macron stressed to his interlocutor "the need for Iran to restore freedom and security of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz as soon as possible, to which France is ready to contribute."

He also "stressed the importance of full respect for the ceasefire, including in Lebanon."
