Fearing nuclear strikes, WHO warns: The situation in the Middle East has entered

The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, has warned that the situation in the Middle East has entered a "dangerous phase" following recent attacks on nuclear facilities in Iran and Israel.

According to him, on Saturday evening, rockets suspected of targeting the Israeli nuclear research center in Dimona hit surrounding areas, including the cities of Dimona and Arad, raising security concerns in the region.

Meanwhile, Iran has stated that the attack was an act of revenge for an earlier strike on its nuclear plant in Natanz, a key facility that houses underground centrifuges for uranium enrichment and which was previously damaged during clashes in June 2025.

The WHO chief stressed that any escalation involving nuclear facilities poses a serious risk to public health and the environment, calling for restraint and an immediate reduction in tensions.
