A powerful explosion has rocked the Ponte Galeria area in Rome, causing the collapse of several buildings and panic among residents.
The incident occurred on Via Tavagnasco, where according to preliminary suspicions, the explosion of a gas cylinder collapsed a building and that the force of the explosion also affected at least three apartments.
As a result of the explosion, the walls of the buildings were completely destroyed, while the debris also damaged several vehicles parked nearby. Firefighters intervened immediately and managed to pull two people from the rubble before the arrival of emergency services.
Search and rescue operations are continuing, as there are still suspicions that other people may be trapped under the rubble. Meanwhile, about 70 residents have been evacuated and are staying outside their homes for safety reasons.
