Giorgia Meloni will meet with Donald Trump next week at the White House

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni will meet with US President Donald Trump on April 17 at the White House.
This meeting between the two leaders will be held regarding tariffs imposed by the Donald Trump administration, CNN reports.
The "head-to-head" confrontation between Meloni and Trump will decide whether there will be an agreement between the two of them.
Recall that Meloni was one of those who did not attack Trump, and even stated that the alarm raised by third parties is worse than the tariff itself. She announced that the export of Italian products to the US will not stop, because it represents 10% of the economy of the neighboring country.
Meanwhile, although she has not attacked Trump, for Meloni the US administration's decision is wrong as it will not favor either party.
How will US tariffs affect consumers?
Americans, according to CNN, are the second largest consumers of Italian olive oil. These are products that will be affected by the US administration's tariffs, but it won't be consumers who will be affected, at least not for now.
Olive oil producers export around 100,000 tons to the US each year, while America is Italy's third largest trading partner.
They (the manufacturers) are concerned that if exports to the US decrease due to a lack of demand for “Made in Italy” products, they will have to make cuts. This could result in a decrease in supply in Italy as well, meaning that there could be empty shelves for these products.
