Spanish Prime Minister Criticizes: The World Should Not Pay the Costs of US and Israeli Actions Against Iran
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez stressed that it is unfair for citizens around the world to bear the price, as he emphasized, of the actions of the US and Israel against Iran and warned that the war is causing serious economic damage in the world and that Spanish companies alone are losing 100 billion euros in less than a month.
"Every bomb that falls in the Middle East hits the wallets of our families," Sanchez told lawmakers at a session of Parliament and outlined the reasons for his government's staunch opposition to the war.
Sanchez added that "it is not fair that someone sets the world on fire and that the rest of us have to swallow the ashes."
Parliament is expected to vote on measures proposed by the government last week to help citizens cope with the economic consequences.
A reduction in fuel and electricity taxes and the allocation of fuel subsidies to sectors most exposed to rising fuel prices are expected.
