Bomb attack on Paris bank foiled, one person arrested

French police thwarted a bomb attack outside a Bank of America branch on Saturday morning. Authorities say they have arrested a man who was about to detonate an explosive device.
The incident happened around 3:30 a.m. in front of a Bank of America building in the posh 8th arrondissement, a few blocks from the Champs-Elysees. Police caught the man shortly after he planted a device, made of five liters of liquid believed to be fuel, and an ignition system.
France's anti-terrorism prosecutor's office told AFP on Saturday that it had taken over the investigation. The office confirmed that a suspect caught red-handed was in custody and said it was investigating "attempted damage by fire or other dangerous means in connection with a terrorist enterprise" and a "criminal terrorist plot."
Both the Paris judicial police and France's domestic intelligence service, the General Directorate for Internal Security (DGSI), are involved in the investigation.
