The British consul in Ecuador is kidnapped, Colin Armstrong is rescued by the police

British businessman Colin Armstrong, who was kidnapped from his home in Ecuador, has been rescued by the police.
He was the Honorary Consul of the United Kingdom in Guayaquil and was reportedly abducted from the farm he owns in the province of Los Rios, along with his partner, early Saturday morning (December 16).
Local media reports said criminals disguised as police officers forced their way into the 78-year-old's property and kidnapped him and his Colombian partner.
Cesar Augusto Zapata Correa, the commander-in-chief of Ecuador's National Police, posted on X to say Mr. Armstrong had been found on the road to Manabi, not far from where he was abducted.
The police chief said Armstrong is "safe and well" and announced that nine people had been arrested, media reports said.
Ecuador's Interior Minister Monica Palencia thanked the police in a post on X, where she said:
"We will not allow impunity. Police actions continue."
