United States President Donald Trump said on Thursday that the US will not defend NATO allies that do not spend enough on defense, The Guardian reported.
"I think it's common sense," the US president told the media in the Oval Office.
"If they don't pay, I won't protect them," he added.
He continued by saying that NATO member countries are not paying enough in terms of defense, calling on them to spend more.
Trump has further stated that his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky, is eager to make a deal.
He said on Thursday that Ukraine has no other choice, while adding that Russia wants the same thing.
"I also think that Russia wants to make a deal because in a way they have no other choice," he said.
