Witkoff and Kushner visit aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, message of strength to Iran

Shortly after the talks with Iran, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner visited the US aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, according to a senior US official and two sources cited by CNN.
According to the same official, the visit was made at the invitation of the commander of the US Central Command (CENTCOM), Admiral Brad Cooper, with the aim of expressing the US administration's appreciation for the armed forces personnel serving in the region. The aircraft carrier is part of the Lincoln Carrier Strike Group.
A message of strength to the vast Mediterranean
CNN emphasizes that the presence of Kushner and Witkoff on the aircraft carrier sends a clear message that, despite the resumption of negotiations between the United States and Iran, the Trump administration continues to maintain a strong military presence in the Middle East.
The concentration of American forces in the region has increased significantly in recent weeks, at a time when President Donald Trump was also considering possible scenarios for military action against Iran, without however making a final decision.
The visit to the USS Abraham Lincoln took place a day after Trump declared that the US had had "very good talks" with Iran, following indirect consultations between delegations from the two countries in Oman.
"Iran seems very keen to make a deal," Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One, adding that "it remains to be seen what the content of that deal will be."
These talks constitute the first round of contacts between Washington and Tehran following the US and Israeli attacks on Iran last summer.
According to a regional source, both the Omani authorities and the Iranian side were informed in advance about the visit to the US aircraft carrier.
