Cases of chronic pulmonary disease increase in Albania

One of the health problems facing the Albanian population is the increase in chronic pulmonary diseases. A report by the Institute of Public Health conducted in several regions of the country shows that the majority of patients, over 70% of them, are in the third and fourth stages of the disease.
According to preliminary data, the age group of people who have a severe condition of the disease belongs to those over 50 years old.
37.7% of the patients studied are in the third stage of the disease and 35.4% in the fourth stage, followed by the second stage of the disease with 14.5%.
Chronic respiratory diseases negatively impact the quality of life of affected individuals and potentially lead to premature death.
According to the results of the report by public health specialists conducted in Tirana, Elbasan, Fier, Kukës and Korçë, smoking, lack of physical activity, diet, obesity, air pollution and occupation were among the main risk factors that influenced the development of pulmonary problems (COPD) in 82.1% of cases and mainly in men over > 50 years old.
International reports also show that the prevalence of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in Europe is expected to increase due to increased risk factors such as smoking and air pollution./ Tv Klan
