NAME/ Sentenced by the Criminal Court to 8 years in prison, the 49-year-old dies in Fier prison

A 49-year-old man serving a sentence at the Fier Penitentiary Institution has lost his life after developing health problems inside his cell.

According to sources close to the institution, it is Ardian Malasi .

Malasi allegedly sought medical help while in custody.

He was taken to the infirmary, where he lost consciousness, and then transported to Fier Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.

Preliminary suspicions are related to a cerebral hemorrhage, while the exact cause of death is expected to be determined after an autopsy is performed.

Malasi was transferred a few months ago from a prison in Tirana.

Ardian Malasi was sentenced to 8 years in prison by the Criminal Court for laundering the proceeds of a criminal offense or criminal activity, committed in collaboration, pursuant to Article 287 of the Criminal Code.

The decision was rendered on October 17, 2025.
