Nepal disaster: Death toll surpasses 1,000, nearly 4,000 missing

The death toll from floods in Nepal and Tibet has exceeded 1,000.
Nepal's disaster agency said on Tuesday that about 4,000 people were missing, including about 600 foreigners.
Meanwhile, authorities in China on Sunday in their latest update reported 16 deaths and around 550 missing.
On Wednesday, August 26, severe flooding hit the border area between Nepal and Tibet. The flooding was caused by the break-off of a large mass of ice from the Langtang Lirung mountain in the Himalayas.
