Fajon: We will support Sorensen's election, Kosovo-Serbia dialogue on the EU agenda

Slovenian Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Tanja Fajon, said today that ministers of EU member states will support the selection of Danish diplomat Peter Sorensen as the new EU special envoy for the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia and said that this dialogue will be high on the EU agenda.
“Today we will support the new EU Special Envoy for the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, the respected and well-known Danish diplomat Sorensen, who has already led European delegations to Bosnia and Herzegovina and North Macedonia,” Fajon told reporters after arriving in the EU from the Foreign Affairs Council meeting.
She added that "the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia will continue to be high on the European Union's agenda."
EU member states' ambassadors confirmed last Friday the appointment of Sorensen as the new EU special envoy for the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, and final approval must be given by EU member states' foreign ministers so that he can begin his mandate in early February.
Sorensen was proposed by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kalas, as the EU's special envoy for the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina.
The mandate of the current EU Special Envoy for the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, Miroslav Lajcak, runs until January 31.
