Braçe against the hunting law: 25-year-olds cannot become hunters,

Socialist Party MP Erion Braçe has opposed the new draft law on hunting, calling it absurd and dangerous for society.

Braçe mocked Environment Minister Sofjan Jaupaj and MP Vullnet Sinaj for defending the initiative, while demanding that the ministry see the reality on the ground.

Braçe harshly criticized the definitions that the new law gives to "aesthetic" and "cultural" products that come from hunting.

Another controversial point, according to Braça, is the safety distance of only 300 meters from residential areas, schools or sports and religious centers.

'Imagine a bird being caught in this way with a trap, who is the animal here? The ministry responsible for hunting and the minister who protects this law should see this reality. How can hunting be “aesthetic”? How can those that come from hunting be called “aesthetic products”? How can a shot, bloodied bird be aesthetic? There are also definitions for “cultural” and “research” products. How can they be called that?

I'll go further: the definitions state that hunting areas should not include economic, sports and religious centers and should be 300 meters away from them. If it's a hunter without a mole, do you understand what can happen 300 meters away from a school? For protected areas, the distance is only 200 meters. This does not guarantee anything.

A hunter is considered a natural person, Albanian or foreign citizen, who has reached the age of 25. You have these 25-year-olds in shooting ranges, training to shoot at a target, and now you give them rifles to train with live targets, which are animals. This 25-year-old age is no longer valid, one cannot become a hunter at that age, because tomorrow you have a crime contingent,' he said.
