The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, spoke on the "Opinion" show about the events of the '90s, in particular about the first movements that signaled the fall of the communist system.

Berisha said that he was one of the people who wanted to change the system, but did not believe that such a thing would happen in 1990.

"Personally, I did not believe that Albania would undergo the changes of the former communist countries during the '90s, I did not believe it. I tried to do what I could, but I did not believe that it would happen. I believed that Albania would remain like the Cuba of the Adriatic, as the world press was talking about. But, the surprise and miracle of the year was the student movement that overturned everything, a movement that came at the end of the year. I thought that Albania would catch up with other countries in a generation, 20-25 years, but now I can say that we have regressed. In the last 10 years, the functioning of the rule of law has regressed." - said Berisha.
