SPAK demands the arrest of Balluk in the Assembly, Tabaku: Every vote against

Democratic MP, Jorida Tabaku, has reacted after Prime Minister Edi Rama's statements and SPAK's request to the Parliament to lift the immunity of Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku for abuses with tenders and procurements, stating that the head of government is seeking to protect his subordinate.

She warned that after the Prime Minister's statements against justice, he will offer political protection and the majority is preparing to vote against SPAK's request in the Assembly, overturning the lifting of immunity.

"The Prime Minister is getting ready to offer political cover to his accused deputy! Support for justice is seen in deeds, not in words! But today, the socialist majority seems determined to vote against SPAK's request. As I warned a few days ago: This is no longer just a court issue, this is a deep moral issue. Only a government of accused can become a cover for the corruption of an entire government," she said, among other things, in her post on the social network Facebook.

Jorida Tabaku's full reaction:

In these 12 years, Albania has had only one thing in fashion: rampant corruption and the shameless theft of taxes and the future of Albanians. Unfortunately, today we are faced with a Prime Minister who does not behave like a statesman, but like a public, institutional and political advocate for all those accused of abuse of office.

A country with democratic standards respects the decisions of independent institutions, it does not declare war on those who have the duty to investigate! A democratic country does not put pressure on justice by warning of the use of the force of cards to violate equality before the law. The Prime Minister has broken his promise that “he would not use immunity to protect the corrupt”. Today we are at the stage where he has declared open war on SPAK and the Justice Reform. This is a belated war of a man who has been trying to undermine the new justice system for years… a justice system that, as time has shown, he voted for with his head down and his card up.

Albania does not have a problem with the justice system that operates. Albania has a problem with the corruption that reigns and with a government that has decided to protect itself, not its citizens.

The Assembly is not the Prime Minister's law office! MPs are not shields for ministers and deputy prime ministers. They are there to protect the public interest, not the interest of the government. Every vote against justice is a vote for theft!
