Federico Chiesa, on the verge of returning to Serie A, Liverpool is no longer

Federico Chiesa's first season at Liverpool can be described in one word: disappointment.

After his sensational move from Juventus to "The Reds", the Italian player has fallen out of coach Arne Slot's plans, making just six appearances all season, only one of them as a starter, in a weightless match against Brighton, after Liverpool had already secured the Premier League title.

Physical problems and a lack of confidence on the part of the Dutch coach have meant that Chiesa has spent more time on the bench or in the stands than on the pitch.

Slot, who also tried the Italian as a center forward, publicly declared that "Chiesa was not ready for the Premier League", giving clear signals that he does not consider him part of his project.

This situation has sparked rumours of a possible return to Serie A, where Chiesa is seeking a rebirth. Milan and Roma, who were also interested in him in January, remain the most talked about options.

However, the obstacle remains the high salary of 7.5 million euros per season, which can only be overcome with a loan and financial contribution from Liverpool.

At the age of 27, Chiesa is at a crucial moment in his career.

After the glory with Italy at Euro 2021, he needs to rediscover himself, play regularly and show that he can still be a protagonist at the highest levels.

If he doesn't do that at Anfield, then the path to Italy seems open. And this time, away from the role of a "false 9".
