Formula 1/ Max Verstappen “pole position” ahead of Norris. Piastri and Russell on the second row. Leclerc finishes fifth…

Max Verstappen grabbed an incredible pole position in the final race of the championship, the Abu Dhabi GP, with a time of 1 minute and 22.207 seconds.
Next to him on the front row is championship leader Lando Norris, 201 thousandths behind the Dutchman and 29 thousandths ahead of teammate Oscar Piastri, who leads the second row, completed by George Russell, 0.438 thousandths off the "pole".
The third row is occupied by Charles Leclerc in Ferrari (+0.523) and Fernando Alonso in Aston Martin (+0.695). Gabriel Bortoleto and Esteban Ocon will start from the fourth row, with Isaac Hadjar and Yuki Tsunoda in fifth.
The second half of the standings begins with Oliver Bearman (Haas) leading the sixth row (the first to be eliminated at the end of Q2) and Carlos Sainz (Williams). Behind them are Liam Lawson (Racing Bulls) and Andrea Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes), a very disappointed one. Lance Stroll (Aston Martin) starts on the inside of the eighth row. Next to him is Lewis Hamilton, the first victim of the initial cut. This is the seven-time world champion's fourth consecutive elimination in Q3 (Las Vegas, Qatar, Abu Dhabi and the Sprint Qualifying at Losail).
Alexander Albon (Williams) and Nico Hulkenberg (Sauber) start on the ninth row. The tenth and final row is occupied by the two Alpines of Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto: another disappointment for the blue team at the end of an extremely disappointing season.
