Corruption charges: 3 police officers arrested, including the chief of the

Three Orikum Police officers have been arrested on charges of corruption and abuse of office, including the chief of the police station. Official police sources said that they are citizen DL, serving as Crime Inspector at the Orikum Police Station, AJ, serving as Chief of the Orikum Police Station, and AF, serving as Area Policing Specialist at the Orikum Police Station.

The Directorate of Investigation has been informed that these police officers, in September of last year, in violation of the law and abusing the attributes granted to them by their position, have requested and received from a citizen the amount of 270,000 lek, in exchange for avoiding criminal liability.

AMP ANNOUNCEMENT
The Police Supervision Agency (Investigation Directorate and Vlora - Gjirokastër Regional Directorate) has executed the decision of the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime, which has imposed the coercive personal security measure "House Arrest" provided for by Article 237 of the Criminal Procedure Code, against police officers;

▶️ DL, with the duty of Crime Inspector at the Orikum Police Station;
▶️ AJ, with the duty of Chief of the Orikum Police Station;
▶️ AF, with the duty of Area Policing Specialist at the Orikum Police Station;
suspected of committing the criminal offenses of "Passive corruption of persons exercising public functions" in collaboration and "Abuse of office", provided for by articles 259, 248 and 25 of the Criminal Code.

The Directorate of Investigation has been informed that these police officers, in September of last year, in violation of the law and abusing the attributes granted to them by their position, have requested and received from a citizen the amount of 270,000 lek, in exchange for avoiding criminal liability.
After several months of investigation with special methods under the direction of SPAK, it became possible to document with legal evidence the involvement of police officers in corrupt actions and abuse of office.

Investigations are ongoing to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident.
