67-year-old man in handcuffs in Korça after trying to smuggle $38,000 into the border crossing

He attempted to smuggle in $38,000 by hiding it on his body. The 67-year-old was caught at the exit of the checkpoint and is being prosecuted.
During the search of the 67-year-old's apartment, specialists from the Crime Investigation Section of the Korça DVKM found and seized an additional 35,000 euros.
The possessor of the sums of money in dollars and euros is being prosecuted.
The services of the Crime Investigation Section of the Korça DVKM, in continuation of the work to prevent and combat illegality, based on information received on the operational route, near the Kapshtica Border Police Station, have stopped for inspection the vehicle driven by citizen Gj. F.
During the physical search, undeclared US$38,000 was found hidden on this citizen's body.
Further, during the search of the apartment, 35,000 euros were found. The monetary amounts were seized as material evidence.
At the end of the actions, for citizen Gj. F., 67 years old, resident of Korça, the materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office for the criminal offenses "Failure to declare money and valuables at the border" and "Laundering the proceeds of a criminal offense or criminal activity".
The procedural materials were transferred to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Korça, for further action.
