A 36-year-old man has been arrested at the Port of Durres after attempting to take undeclared 223,200 euros out of Albanian territory.
Police report that the amount of money was found in his backpack.

A 36-year-old man, resident in Italy, has been arrested for attempting to take money out of Albania without declaring it to the tax authorities.
As a result of detailed controls and verifications at the entry/exit of Albania, with the objective of preventing and combating border crimes, the Border Police services of the port of Durrës, in cooperation with the customs authorities, finalized the "Asset" operation.
During the operation, the Albanian citizen, MD, 36 years old, resident in Italy, was arrested in flagrante delicto, because 223,200 euros were found in his backpack, which he was attempting to take out of Albania, without declaring to the PKK.
The procedural materials were passed to the Durrës Prosecutor's Office, where investigations are continuing to determine the source of this money.
