Martin Can's family reacts to the Court of Appeal's decision to close

The family of the late Martin Cani, who was killed a year ago by a peer near the "Fan Noli" school, has reacted after the Constitutional Court's opinion that deemed the decision to close TikTok unconstitutional and assessed that it violated freedom of expression.

In an official statement, the Cani family emphasizes that Martini did not lose his life because of TikTok, but as a result of the failure of institutions.

Martin Can's family welcomes the Constitutional Court's decision that today declared the closure of the social network TikTok unconstitutional, officially confirming what we have been crying out in pain since day one: Martin was not killed by TikTok!

This decision exposes the hypocrisy of a government that, instead of taking responsibility for its failures, chose to use our son's blood as a pretext for censorship and political maneuvering. While the state was busy closing down applications, its systematic failure continued to produce victims: first a minor in Maliq and most recently another life cut short in Durrës.

The screaming truths that are killing our children are:

The Bankrupt Educational System: Martini was killed by a knife from a peer in an environment where school safety does not exist and institutions do not take any preventive measures.
The Irresponsibility of the School: Our son was killed because the school did not inform his parents about previous incidents, depriving us of the opportunity to prevent the tragedy.
The Crimes of the Health System: Martini was killed by absurd protocols that sent him to the most distant hospital when the QSUT was only 3 minutes away. He was killed because the Trauma Hospital lacked cardiac surgeons and basic equipment such as a heart-lung machine to repair his heart.
Propaganda instead of Security: The government settled for “cosmetic reforms” for public opinion, while school safety remains at zero and cooperation with families is non-existent.

Enough with the manipulation! Closing an app does not reverse reality nor does it save lives. Martini, Eraldi in Maliq and Erjoni in Durrës were not killed by social media; they were killed by the lack of security, institutional irresponsibility and the total failure of the state that was supposed to protect them.

We will not be silent!
We demand JUSTICE FOR MARTIN and for every other child who fell victim to this rotten system. We will not allow the name of our son, a footballer with dreams and a pure soul, to be used as a shield for your failures anymore.

Our voice joins every family that sheds tears today. We demand actions, not words! We demand security, not censorship!
