32 killed and 84 injured in Russian attack in Ukraine, including children

Russian missiles hit the city of Sumy in northeastern Ukraine today. The Russian military fired two ballistic missiles into the city center at around 10:15 a.m., as people gathered to celebrate Palm Sunday.

At least 32 people were killed, including 2 children, and 84 others were injured. Among the injured were 10 other children. Images released showed dead bodies lying on the city streets.

In addition to the casualties, the attacks caused significant damage throughout the area surrounding the university, where Ukrainian authorities said two powerful Iskander-M surface-to-surface missiles were fired.

In addition to the victims, several vehicles were engulfed in flames, others were severely damaged, as were many buildings. Emergency teams do not rule out the possibility of a higher death toll. The area was well-attended by church services on Palm Sunday.

In a post on the X network, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russia deserves nothing but punishment for the attack, which he considered "terrible."

This is considered the attack with the most casualties since the start of Donald Trump's second term, who is the initiator of peace efforts between Kiev and Moscow, which have so far achieved a partial ceasefire in the Black Sea and a ban on attacks in the energy sector, but which have not yet been implemented.
