Belgrade police chief arrested, suspected of covering up murder and disposing of

One of the highest-ranking figures in Serbia's security system has been arrested in Belgrade on suspicion of involvement in the concealment of a crime and aiding in the disappearance of the victim's body.

The arrested person is Belgrade Police Director Veselin Milić, who is suspected of being involved in the disappearance of a 52-year-old man. According to local media, the victim was last seen at a restaurant in the Senjak neighborhood of Belgrade.

The prosecution announced that Milić has been remanded in custody on suspicion of failing to report a criminal offense, as well as aiding and abetting the alleged perpetrator of the murder.

Following his arrest, the Serbian Interior Ministry announced his dismissal from duty. Meanwhile, the owner and waiter of the restaurant where the 52-year-old was last seen, as well as two other people suspected of attempted murder, have also been arrested in connection with the case.
