Zelensky: Russia is trying to involve Belarus in the war against Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Russia of trying to drag Belarus deeper into the war against Ukraine.
Zelensky claimed that Russia is considering operations from the territory of Belarus in the Chernihiv-Kiev direction of Ukraine or potentially against a NATO member state.
"We know that additional contacts have taken place between the Russians and Aleksandr Lukashenko, aimed at persuading him to join new aggressive Russian operations," Zelensky said on the American platform X.
He warned that Ukraine would defend itself "without any doubt" if Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko decides to support Russia's plans.
"I have instructed our Defense and Security Forces of Ukraine to strengthen the relevant leadership and present the response plan, which will be reviewed and approved at the Staff meeting," he added.
Zelensky also claimed that Russia is preparing new missile and drone attacks on Ukraine, including strikes on what Moscow calls "decision-making centers," including political and military targets.
"Of course, we have taken this information into consideration," he said.
