Journalist Artan Hoxha has spoken about the situation of former President Ilir Meta in detention, revealing details about his conditions and treatment in the "313" prison.
Invited to the show "This Week" on News24 , Hoxha also commented on Meta's appearance in the last session at the GJKKO.
"Last week, a ceremony was held at the GJKKO. The GJKKO has become very beautiful. Our justice does not falter here. The change that citizens saw in Ilir Meta was that it looked as if he had not gone through the makeup," the journalist said with irony.
According to Hoxha, the main problem remains the quality of justice and not the formal aspects.
He said that Meta was not prevented from choosing another institution to serve his sentence, but remained in prison 313, which according to him has the strongest security measures.
"The prison where he is held, 313, has the strictest security measures. Criminal underworld figures are held there. Meta is alone in his cell," Hoxha declared.
The journalist emphasized that months of isolation have affected the former president.
"From October 24, 2024 until today, being alone is a big problem. He is deprived of many things that he had in his routine," he said.
According to Hoxha, Meta's physical activities inside the prison have also been restricted.
"Even if he does dumbbells with water bottles, they go and break his water bottles. There is an orientation to treat him in this way," the journalist said.
He also revealed that Meta does not consume prison food, but is supplied from outside through a trusted person, while his food has been checked several times by the authorities.
"Meta was also checked for the food he was receiving," Hoxha declared.
According to him, the former president has also been punished for public communications from detention facilities.
"Meta was punished for speaking live to the media after 8:00 PM. This was considered a serious violation," he said.
Hoxha added that one of Meta's biggest expenses in prison are the phone cards sent to him from abroad to communicate, while claiming that he is not allowed to speak to the secretary general of his party.
He also mentioned other restrictions, such as the removal of the ping-pong table and problems with the airing schedule.
