Bill Clinton begins testimony on ties to Jeffrey Epstein

Former US President Bill Clinton has begun his testimony as part of investigations related to the sex trafficking ring set up by the late financier Jeffrey Epstein.

The hearing is being held before the House Oversight Committee and comes a day after his wife, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, testified. According to US media, her testimony lasted about seven hours.

Committee Chairman James Comer said after Hillary Clinton's hearing that he expected the former president's testimony to be even longer. He said that during questioning, Hillary Clinton responded several times with the phrase "I don't know, you'll have to ask my husband."

According to documents previously released by the US Department of Justice, Epstein visited the White House 17 times between 1993 and 1995, when Bill Clinton was in office. Previous reports have also mentioned that the former president traveled several times on Epstein's private jet, known as the "Lolita Express", in the early 2000s.

The latest files also include photographs showing Bill Clinton in the company of Epstein and his associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, who is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence for sex trafficking and other related crimes.
