Who kept tourism "on its feet" in January? In addition to traditional countries, Denmark, Israel and India led the growth

Tourism statistics for the start of the year bring some interesting data on people who visited Albania in the first month of the year. According to data published by the Institute of Statistics, total foreign arrivals had suffered a minimal decrease of 1.5%, however this does not mean that certain groups have followed the same trend.

According to the data, it turns out that some tourists from other countries have had a significant increase on the Albanian tourist map.

Tourists with the highest number in absolute value

If we talk about arrivals from foreign countries, the highest number comes from traditional countries that contribute to tourism, although they are not necessarily the countries that have experienced the greatest growth. During the first month of the year, the largest arrivals appear to be from Kosovo with around 237 thousand arrivals, followed by Italy, North Macedonia and Montenegro, countries that have traditionally contributed to tourism due to their geographical proximity. Although they have the highest number of arrivals, they do not show a very large increase, except for Montenegro which results in a 12.8% decrease, while Italy has recorded the highest growth with 8.5%.

Analyzing the figures, the largest increase during this month compared to January 2025 was observed by Denmark with an increase of 226%. Other countries have also seen increases, such as Israel, which has also increased its entries to our country during 2025. Egypt, Saudi Arabia and India also show increases.
