A serious incident has shaken the village of Kuman, in Roskovec, this afternoon. An elderly man, identified as Shefit Rrapaj, 80 years old, is suspected of having killed his wife and then ended his life.
According to preliminary information, Shefit Rrapaj, a resident of the village of Kuman, is suspected of shooting his wife, Dashuri Rrapaj, about 75 years old, with a rifle-type firearm inside their apartment. He then killed himself.
The Rrapaj couple had lived in this area for about 20 years, having been displaced from Levani in Berat. They were the parents of 9 children, 3 girls and 6 boys, most of whom live abroad. Only one of the boys lived with them and was accompanied to the police station to give his testimony regarding the incident.
Sources from the area indicate that there have been ongoing conflicts in the family over the years. In fact, just four days ago, the police had intervened in their apartment to clarify the disagreements between the couple.
It is also learned that about 10 years ago, the elderly man had attempted to end his life with a firearm.
An investigation team is at the scene, working to fully clarify the circumstances and document this serious case.
